Debbie Sasson

Hello!

I’m Debbie

My training in clinical psychology, raising two children of my own, spending 18 years as the founding director of an overnight summer camp for neurodivergent kids & teens have all contributed to my unique perspective on parenting.

My Areas of Expertise

Anxiety

I’ve been trained in the SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions) parent-based treatment program for children and adolescents with anxiety, OCD, and related profiles.

I co-founded Camp Akeela and have been directing the camp for 18 years.

I’m a certified sleep consultant and I train other sleep consultants on how to work with children with ADD/ADHD and those on the autism spectrum.

Family systems and couples work were both a focus of my doctoral work in clinical psychology

I have a Masters in School Counseling and am a former middle school counselor

Can Do It Parenting Help Your Family?

Working With Debbie

My clients feel like they don’t know how to help their child find success — whether that be socially, behaviorally, overcoming anxiety, or accomplishing tasks more independently. Often, the family system is under stress and parents tell me they feel overwhelmed and confused about where to start. They’re looking for support and guidance.

My style is solution-oriented; we’ll work together to achieve results as quickly as possible. I’ll always be honest and will sometimes be firm, but I will always lead with love and empathy. It’s hard having a child who is struggling and I’m here to help! (And when I’m not the right person to help, I’ll point you in the right direction for other resources.)

By changing your approach to certain parenting challenges, you’ll pave the way for positive and lasting changes in our child. Ultimately, that will allow them to grow and thrive, reaching their full potential.
